Determine the size and space of the camping tent

Usually, there are 3 parameters that the manufacturer provides that can help the buyer visualize the size inside the cage:

  • Floor size.
  • Floor area (m2)
  • Tent top height

These numbers won't help you calculate the bevelled angle of the tent nonetheless. The more up the wall of the tent is, the more space used will be, and the slope of each type of tent differs. Some types of dome-like tents are usually dome-like, and there is usually more space above them at night; wedge-shaped shapes with minimal space at the base of the tent, where reduced seating space significantly reduces tent weight.

There are 3 ways to help you visualize tent sizes:

  • Go directly to the tent store, this is the best way
  • If purchased online, observe the slope of the tent wall. The corner of the tent wall slopes much toward the ceiling, meaning you are looking at a well-weighted tent with the most modern interiors.
  • Use the 3 parameters mentioned above to visualize the crane. Specifically:

+ Floor size: The tent floor plan indicates the length and width of the tent, the unit is usually inch (= 2.54cm). Remember. The dimensions here are usually the largest part of the tent.

Many tents have a non-rectangular plan. Some are narrow and narrow at the tail end of the tent. (a way to reduce weight). Some 3-4 types of tents have a hexagonal layout, the widest at the waist. The frames, piles to form a hexagon make the tent more stable but increase weight (often found in the "extended" tent - the extended-season tent and the 4-season tent - 4-season tent)

+ Width: With standard 20 ”sleeping mattress, will give 2 people 14-15” so that the hips touch the hips when lying side by side, not redundant, but comfortable enough.

+ Length: By American standards, the average man is 69.3 inches tall and the female is 63.8 inches. Most tourist tents are designed for this tall person. For those who are 72 inches or more tall, it can feel a bit tedious for tents that average 84 inches long. Because tent walls are usually sloping towards the foot and head of the tent.

Advice for oversized travelers: Look for tents that are at least 90 inches or more in length.

+ Floor area: Two tents can have the same floor size, but the floor area is different. Why is that? The tent has a smaller floor area that is almost narrow at the end of the tent. This is a useful number to know, but it still does not help us fully visualize the living space inside the tent.

+ The height of the tent: The higher the top of the tent, the wider the interior. But the size of the top of the tent is only the height dimension at the highest point inside the tent because it cannot fully represent the size of the space inside and the slope of the wall. The top height of the tent is determined by an 8 ”diameter bridge crest located at the highest point in the tent. The sphere represents the human head, and the height of the tent top is calculated from the top of the sphere. The pyramid-shaped tent can be taller at the top, so the height of this sphere gives a height closer to reality.

Tips for you when buying a tent:

  • Camp for the first time? Before buying your first tent, you should borrow one to try it out to see what you like and dislike, to understand what's important to you.
  • Ask your friends about how they feel when sleeping in a tent, you will get a lot of ideas, no matter what your hobby is, everyone's opinion about the tent is essential.
  • If you have a new tent, you should practice setting it up at home
  • When storing a tent, avoid repeating the old folds, it will damage the tent fabric quickly.
  • Do not store the tent while it is still wet, it will cause mold, damage the tent. When not in use for a long time, take it out of the bag occasionally for maintenance.
  • If camping in the snow? Then erect a wall of snow in the windy direction and in the tent door position, to protect your tent.
  • When removing the tent column, it is recommended to work on the middle part of the column first, to distribute the force evenly on the column, to avoid strong impact on the joints at the top of the column.
  • Set up a tent in the shade if you're camping for a long time, or extend your day.
